chloe: a/w 11

Over at Chloe, it seems Hannah McGibbon's traditional 70's girl has three new things on her mind this season: leather, blocking and all things snakeskin. Be it an outfit based solely on one or a crazy combination of all three, not a single look went down the runway without at least a hint of these themes. While colors were largely the beiges, blacks and creams you'd expect; a newer, fresher feeling came from the heavy hand with with Mrs McGibbon doled out everything else. Prints on top of prints, allover leather, and blocking from head to toe were what made this collection stand out from the rest. Style leather pieces with the likes of Jil Sander and Celine for something mature or pair the snakeskins with leopard print from Joseph for something far more bold.

chloe s/s 11

The Chloe S/S 11 collection is modern, chic and straightforward; though also definitely more on the simple side than we're used to. The characteristic color palette is still here, but with a serious and no-nonsense approach to styling and details: the ballerina skirts probably being the most exciting thing on offer. None the less, such minimalism should actually prove very successful, as sometimes the problem with Chloe can be the extra bows and frills...

This versatile collection will blend well with outerwear from Stella McCartney and Jil Sander or try layering the floaty pieces under Joseph lurex knits and chunky jumpers.

street style: separates

Separates are a chic and modern alternative to dresses. Consider current collections based on this idea such as Joseph, Chloe and Celine.
